Car Digital painting in Photoshop

Initially tried out the selection mode to obtain the outline from the reference image as shown above. But then thought it wasnt artistic enough and felt almost like copy/paste. So abandoned this method for the following.

In the above, used freehand sketching to draft out the outlines and edges of the car based on the reference image.

Added a neutral flat grey colour to the layer. Put up a new layer and added the reflections. Used layer blending properties to add glow effects to the reflections.

Decided to colour the background to a contrasting colour so that i could make selection of the outline of the car easily using selection by colour range. But then realised that the same was not required so reverted to normal white background. Also, added the glass details, such as the windshields and headlights. Pushed the reflections layer on top.

Added cleaner and sharper edges and outlines using pen tool using the freehand sketch layer as reference. Also hid the freehand sketch layer as the same was no longer required (except for the wheels later).

Used freehand burn and dodge tools to add depth and lighting to the car.

Used brush tool with controlled pressure to add further depth towards the front of the car. Also added in the grill and front spoiler details.
